Background
Professional Engineer with over 35 years of engineering experience including: Product Safety Evaluation; Electric Utility; Design and Manufacture of Diesel powered generators, pumps and power units - including controls and switchgear; and rail transportation. Rail transportation experience was both in rolling stock (equipment design, evaluation, modification and incident investigation in cases of equipment failure) and construction project management for wayside infrastructure improvements (power, signal and station rehabilitation). In the case of infrastructure improvements, was responsible for oversight of in-house and contractor construction forces and coordination with municipal and utility representatives as well as assuring compliance with environmental (lead, asbestos and/or petroleum contamination) and accessibility (ADA) regulations.
Recent Project Experience
- Managed the procurement and installation of a 650V DC, Traction Power Circuit Breaker House in a major rail transit interlocking including: liaison with other railroad properties using the interlocking, electric utility (Con-Ed), Amtrak Real Estate and MTA Real Estate.
- Managed the interior and exterior renovation of three railroad passenger stations, including: Abatement of Asbestos and Lead containing material, community outreach, oversight of all crafts performing work (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, communications and IT personnel) and liaison between vendors and MTA Real Estate.
- Managed the construction of a Hazmat drum storage facility, including: concrete foundation work, electrical, paving and drainage.
- Managed the electrical construction forces during the reconstruction of two passenger railroad stations. Acted as liaison to contractor performing remainder of the work.
